I may be doing all JPop songs this month. Here’s another Japanese song:
MirrorDance by androp
The music video alone is an achievement. The first time you hear this song, you’ll likely like the chorus more than the rest of the song. All good songs have good choruses of course. I think this song does a lot to build up to each chorus so that it makes the chorus all that more exciting. When you listen to this song multiple times, you’ll pick up more of the intricacies in the music.
The music video does a fantastic job of using minimalisitc digital effects to create the sense of both brokenness and allure. The shards of glass that we see every so often might very well be a broken mirror, but we don’t feel as if any sense of bad luck as come upon the protagonist of this video. I might be saying too much-the video is worth seeing in HD to get the full effect. In fact, I would say this is the best HD music video I have seen. It uses both sound and visuals to convey a short but interesting story. It is even viewable in 3D, if one desires.
