Song for Week of April 20th, 2008

Here’s one you have┬ánever heard of:

“Fireflies” by Seriously

They’re an indie band, Seriously, who I found under interesting circumstances. I thought it right to feature this song this week because I think it’s interesting lyrically and musically. I think the vocals are pretty good here, but this band’s other songs fall short vocally, I think. This is kind of the best of all three worlds.

There’s something gentle about its lyrics and mood. It makes we want to cry, but I don’t know why. “Come save me from myself…come rescue me from my pain so this hardened heart can cry once again.” I think the first step to repentance is recognizing where we fall. He seemed to see where other humans fall, which seemed to extrapolate the emotions of emptiness and confusion.

The band seems Christian in their profile, but I’m not sure yet. I can’t really find much objectionable in their lyrics. I think I’ll be watching this band with interest. I’ve seen bands get labels, like Chasen. So let’s see where these guys go!

EDIT: They have a Nietzsche quote on their Youtube V-log, which concerns me regarding their ‘Christianity.’
