Wii Parade

It’s funny how hooking up a Nintendo Wii will suddenly make you the most popular dorm room on the floor. Well, at least except for those who are trying to sleep, which fortunately is not me right now. Wii Sports is addictive, that’s for sure. It kind of goes to show you that even a ‘kiddy’ game appeals to everyone, and I mean everyone. It doesn’t surprise me that this is such a hit at retirement homes, either. If you’ve got nothing to do, why not waste time doing this?

This will likely pass. One can only hope…

What’s more interesting is what the reaction will be when Super Smash Bros. Brawl hits. That’s a game that will garner some late night parties. I am excited for that game. The question I beg is where the limit is. It seems that I’m couped up all day in my dorm and I barely get my homework done. Whereas people go to Waikiki everyday and…well, we’ll see how many of them graduate in four years. Again, one can only hope.

I’m not going to lie-I’m not yet a huge fan of the Wii, and being the first guy in line at Best Buy, waiting 19 hours for it, I sure was the one who was hoping to like it. It’s not that it’s bad, I just think it’s gimmicky. Usually people who don’t own the Wii think it’s gimmicky, and people who get one change their minds. I kind of think oppositely. That’s why I think Nintendo made it so you could play the new Smash Bros. with the old GCN controller.

Just my thoughts tonight…

Yeah, Wii’s not been living up to my expectations either. I only have sports and Zelda. I’m not sure about it being gimmicky though. If Zelda had precise motion control, it would make the game way more realistic. The remote may just seem like a gimmick for most games, but I’m waiting to see how games like Super Mario Galaxy can make use of it.
